A delightful midday Cupp a’ Coffee

A delightful midday Cupp a’ Coffee

mid day break – a good cup of coffee. More specifically a good cappuccino.

the criteria for  a good cappuccino is a warmed ceramic cup, double shot espresso, floating frothy milk – not to dry and the  simple swirling  finish.

the traveling criteria is the same. Hospitality, on the plate and ambience.

15th and Larimer Starbucks ….

Sunday – the barista is engaging . “the standard Cappuccino  – try the blonde Cappuccino?”

it was good to try – however I like my coffee to taste like coffee. The Blonde Cappuccino was more frothy fun (blonds have more fun) than the standard cappuccino … regardless was a delightful mid day break.

Frances Sweets of the week ~ Jolly Ranchers

Frances Sweets of the week ~ Jolly Ranchers

The original Jolly Rancher was made in the USA by the Jolly Rancher Company, who made their unique candies have the most excellent tastes, smells, sounds (of the wrapper), textures, and vibrant colors. When I open up a Jolly Rancher, the wrapper that I peel off sounds so crinkly, scratchy, and rough. There is surprise and delight in knowing there is so much to find in the thin, crunching package. As I’m opening the Jolly Rancher, the plastic wrapping is rugged and wrinkled against my fingers and when the smooth candy falls into my palm, it feels sticky, indented, and rounded. As the Jolly Rancher is in my hand, I see that it is shiny against the bright light, and creased from the sharp plastic surrounding it, only seconds before. The Jolly Rancher also looks ovalular and circling around itself. Lastly, as I pop the sweet delight into my mouth, it tastes bittersweet from the fruity flavor, and bursting with the fruity essence from the candy itself. The tang of sourness bounces off the sweet as I devour the last bit of Jolly Rancher in my mouth. It’s amazing to think that not very long ago, in 1949, these extraordinary and original candies were made in Golden, Colorado.
