Traveling is an adventure.
Traveling and visiting restaurants I look for consistency. The types of American barbecue sauces styles are various from Texas (moppy) to Carolinas’ (vinegar based) to Kansas City (sweet). Cuts of meat and slow cooking methods define the sauces. Barbecue sauce at Hard Rock Cafe enhances the pulled pork. the sauce lends more towards Kansas City style. My go to when I travel to a city that has a Hard Rock Cafe is the BBQ Pork Sandwich. Often it is served with a bit of Carolina BBQ sauce – I have mine on the side. This time the hidden treasure was the accompaniment of slice green apple. The apple added crispness to the sweet sauce. The latest BBQ Pork sand was consistent and good. The only notes of improvement is to not serve the BBQ pork on a hamburger bun and keep brunoise of veg out of the BBQ beans.
Denver Hard Rock cafe -food on the plate is good. Consistent. Service was spot on and the music at the Hard Rock could have been louder. Rating today is 2.5 out of 3.
Happy Mothers Day Mama. Today is your day. No cooking – We celebrate you starting with delights. My recommendation is to start with Dessert. Today I have red velvet cup cakes as first course.
when asked what is your favorite meal – the easy answer is Macaroni and Cheese. There is something very comforting when cooked correctly and very disappointing when done wrong. At the Hard rock Cafe in Denver – the cooks do it right. Cheesey, hot on […]
Sous vide – or boil in the bag at a specific temperature – goes along with the my post of cooking hack. Fundamental cooking techniques are lost.
Sous vide is touted as hands free cooking.
Plastic chemicals released during sous vide conditions are a gray area. I know that a good bit of char ( caramelization ) brings forth flavors that hands off cooking lacks.
I am currently reading Andrea Nguyen’s Vietnamese Food Any Day. the cook book is a good read. Getting to know potions of flavors – that i am not familiar with – drew me in. Scrolling through food photos and reading family stories is the hook. […]
Interesting idea. How to cut corners when you don’t know that you are cutting corners. RE: Hack a solution to an issue. Kitchen, cooking hack. Hmm. It reminds me of John Snow saying to use the pointy end of the sword (yes GOT reference)… So […]
spectacular brunch – is not commonly in my vernacular. Being considered worthy of mothers day brunch , my Restaurant Rating Rule still applies. Restaurants are rated on service, back ground noise, food on the plate. Mothers day brunch at the Denver Athletic Club is spectacular.
Welcoming piano is in the back ground, the service is present, but not hovering.food on the plate is visually very pleasing. Most Importantly – it is all about Mum.
the layout included fresh squeezed juice station, mimosa station, Omelet station, French toast station, Carving station with ham and prime rib. Cold section included salads smoked salmon platter cheese and charcuterie. Hot side included chick biscuit pot pie, salmon, cheesy potatoes. absolutely delightful and always the buffet was well stocked..
Snow last week and 80 degree weather this week , it is Spring in the Rockies. Everything pops from flora to the farmers markets! There are 11 farmers markets in the Denver area. Cherry Creek Farmers Market , Union Station Farmers Market and South Pearl […]
