Travelers Culinary Adventure: Ruben Returns Home: A Bite of Omaha Legend

Travelers Culinary Adventure: Ruben Returns Home: A Bite of Omaha Legend

Omaha, where local lore and good food often go hand in hand.

According to urban myth (and quite a few proud locals), the Reuben sandwich was created in Omaha. While its origin story may be debated from New York to Nebraska, one thing is clear: this city takes its Reubens seriously.

In search of the holy grail, I made my way to Upstream Brewing Company, a local institution known for big flavors and appreciation for tradition done right. Their Reuben? Hits all the high points.

Stacked with tender corned beef, just the right amount of tangy sauerkraut, melted Swiss, and Thousand Island Dressing, all grilled between slices of hearty rye – the sandwich is crisp on the outside, rich and balanced inside.

Omaha’s Ruben is more than a legend – its a destination.

Travelers Culinary Adventure: When in Denver- a return to Acreage and Stem Cider: Lamb Burger Worth Remembering.

Familiar streets outside Denver Colorado, holds fresh flavors. While off the culinary trail for a brief stop in the city, I returned to an establishment I’ve grown fond of: Acreage. Acreage – Stem Cider quietly delivers bold, confident dishes. just a small bit of advice, When the waiter says – “this is the way i like it” – go for it and this time, the standout is the lamb burger with pork belly. The traditional accompaniments include pickled red onion, confit tomatoes, feta and spinach… However the foundation is rich tender lamb that makes this burger more than just a sandwich – it becomes a statement. the textures are layered, the flavors deep and balanced.

Acreage doesn’t shout for attention, it earns it.
