What a surprise and delight to find that bread has decided to take a spontaneous vacation to also enjoy the festivities. How thoughtful to leave us here, bewildered and wondering how we’ll manage.
Well .. off to the local store and it is on the rack… The unimaginable horror of a breadless meal. Tragedy of epic proportions adverted
Soda Bread
Ingredients
- 4 cups all purpose flout
- 4 table spoons sugar
- 1 tea spoon baking soda
- 1 1/2 tea spoon salt
- 4 table spoons butter cold unsalted
- 1 3/4 cups buttermilk shaken
- 1 tea spoon orange zest
- 1 cup dried currants
Instructions
- preheat the over to 375F
- combine the dry ingredients
- add butter
- add butter milk, egg and orange zest.
- combine the currants with 1 tablespoon of flour into the dough.
- nead into a round loaf.
- bake for 45 to 55 minutes. When one taps a don loaf of bread – it will sound hollow.
- serve at room temperature.
