Traditional Scottish Recipes on a tea towel. Tradition? Parents use kitchen towels as tools.

2 ounces oatmeal
one pint boiling water
  1. salt to taste.
Instructions
  1. sprinkle oatmeal into boiling water. the trick is to use a spirtle and keep on stirring all the time. once at a steady boil, allow the porridge to cook for 30 minutes. stir frequently. add salt and serve with cold Scottish cream. delicious.
Notes
  1. *papa like oatmeal with butter milk. we can find butter milk also in Scotland. Just have to look harder.

Ingredients
  1. 8 ounces plain flour
  2. 4 ounces rice flour
  3. 8 ounces butter
  4. 4 ounces castor sugar
Blend thoroughly butter and sugar. Knead in the flour
press by hand into 2 inch round cakes 3/4 inch thick
  1. prick with a fork.
  2. Bake in moderate oven for 30 minutes.

Ingredients
  1. Minced Steak, Onion, Suet, Water, Flour, Salt
Divide one pound Minced steak into 3.
chop 3 ounces suet.:Make a stiff Dough with Flour, water pinch of salt*
rolll out into 3 ovals. Place on half of each oval meat. Sprinkle wit suet, a little chopped onion, salt, pepper.
Fold over
  1. Crimp Edges, prick with a fork. Bake in a quick oven 30 minutes.
Notes
  1. *i have learned pinch of salt is three finger pinch equals my dads 2 finger pinch of salt.

Ingredients
  1. Hough, Water, Salt, Pepper, Mince Meat
take three pounds of the nap end of the hough, put in sauce pan and nearly cover with water.
  1. Bring almost to the boiling point then simmer six hours. Mince meat into small pieces. Replace in sauce pan. add a little boiling water with pepper and salt to taste. ;
  2. Boil ten minutes .
  3. put into bowls to set.

  1. yikes. the local grocer is out of hough.

Ingredients
  1. 1 sheep's pluck and bag. (hmmm..ok.?); 1/2 pound oatmeal, 1/4 pound suet; 2 onions;
  2. balck pepper, salt,and 1/2 teaspoon mixed herbs (hhmm#2 what herbs?).
Instructions
  1. Wash Bag in cold water. Bring to the boil. Scrape and Clean (what?). Leave over night.; Mince Heart, Lights, Liver add tasted oatmeal, chopped suet, onions: Season highly with black pepper, salt and herbs. Fill bag, Sew up, allow for selling, place in hot water and boil for 3 hours.

  1. OK . now all that is weird. i will throw the towel in on this one.
