Today, Bistro Vindome (1420 Larimer st., Denver) held the perfect experience for Valentines Eats. To begin with, the scene and the restaurant ambiance were perfect. It gave me the feeling that I had traveled to Paris, France. We were in a little bistro off of […]
Food for Thought “for the love of PIZZA” by Allyson Reedy. Special to the Denver Post.
Deep Dish, thin crust, Detroit and more. The many styles was adore. Catchy. Transferring an idea that we are in agreement, in the same club and that we as young Denver adults know what is Detroit Pizza. Adore.? Hmm.. Denver as ground zero for a multitude of regional varieties. Pizza. needs to be hot, with sauce and a good crust. As i am learning about Brooklyn Style, Roman Style the article does not mention what defines the difference.
so as the article further states – i keep searching. Page 3
Neapolitan: Allyson writes it is legit. what does that mean? what is the criteria? thin crust, wood fire, minimal toppings of San Marzano tomato sauce and buffalo Mozzarella…oh legit cheese pizza. got it.
New York: thin crust, large, holds sauce, grated mozzarella. Allyson writes you can get this style at Fat Sully’s.
pizza friday
Chicago Deep Dish. it says that Haters of deep dish call this a casserole. funny.
Detroit: like Chicago it is also thick crusted and deep dished. Detroit crust is crispier according to Allyson. this is at Hops and Pies. This is good Pizza.
New Haven: a crispier version of Neapolitan style with more char. I like my marshmallows roasted over the camp fire with Char, I will pass on more char on the pizza
Brooklyn: lighter, airier crispier than New York.
Colorado: Beau Jo’s. the best is Beau Jo’s whole wheat crust with honey.
New England Greek : have not tried. Confunkled.
Missing stated by Allyson is St.Louis style and New Jersey style tomato pie and Roman.
We now have ventured out into the product on the plate… we have new recommendations from Allyson. Next is to have the whole pizza Friday experience. Food on the plate, listen to my order (no sippy cups)
So – Stay tuned and lets see if the pizzas follow the descriptions and are legit.
A favorite summer travel is to visit Uncle Tim on Oahu. the Little Hawaiian cook book brings me right back to “pineapple juice from the sky”, big flowers, geckos and laua. We were fortunate enough to stay at the Hilton (the hotel with the rainbow […]
Holiday Gingerbread House decorating Decorating Gingerbread houses is always a favorite of my girl friends. I always look forward to it. I think we are getting betterat decorating…
The set up is fun to watch. The batter is pored from mechanical pitcher that glides along the top of the griddle and pours perfectly.
watching chef Dan and chef Kelly run the event was like watching a well orchestrated dance. Breakfast sausage , warm meted butter, warm syrup on fluffy pancakes – on a cold Sunday day is a treat.
grading today is food on the plate and the dance. 5 out of 5.

Spaghetti factory has moved out of Lodo, my new favorite restaurant is Bistro Vendome. Our family welcomed in the New year 2019 with French Bistro style dining.
the Crepe Vendome on the menu is a must. It has roasted chicken, olives, herbs and topped with a fried egg. Who would have thought.
Bernaise sauce tastes like butter and when ordering a shirly temple they did not bring over a plastic glass with a lid. Chef / Owner Jennifer came to the table to make sure all was OK. This is my New favorite restaurant to watch people and yes to have New Years Eve dinner..
New holiday breakfast tradition – with shared stories of Grandma Jo – is JoJo Skevers. Batter mixed up cooked up and cooked in a cast iron pan on the stove top. served warm with tri-syrups are delish.
