Food Halls ~ Cornicello at the Milk Market

12 of America’s Best Food Halls is the title of July’s 2018 Delta’s Sky Magazine. It’s review of food halls exemplifies  the essence of great food experience. For me – a “Best” rating is hard to decipher. Unique environment, consistency, customer service all hard to rate as travelers, neighbors and visitors all have different optics and experiences.

Denver Milk Market opened in the historic Dairy Block. It is an all-local dine in and take away food market with 16 venues. If it had opened prior to the publication of Delta’s Sky magazine, and discovered by the author Mr. Zimmerman – it also would in the running for best food halls.

Our first stop is for Gelato. Cornicello serves Gelato, sundaes, soft serve floats and shakes. The flavor I typically try as a base line to judge craft of making ice cream (or gelato)  is vanilla. If Cornicello can make a good vanilla – they verify to me that they have ice cream base perfected. Madagascar Vanilla is spot on. The quandary is what flavor to try next.

My 3 dining criteria remains as key elements  for a perfect rating. Architectural aesthetics, background noise, and the food on the plate. the dairy block has kept its architectural integrity. Kiosks are set at every turn that guide you to continue to explore. Each kiosk has a different food venue. Back ground noise is a little high, however retro 80’s music was playing and the chefs, cooks and food service personnel were delighted and I enjoyed watching them enjoying the music. It added appropriate back ground to the hall. First try at Cornicello was perfect and will bring me back to try other venues.

Denver’s Milk Market is a diamond that can be found by travelers, neighbors and visitors in our own back yard. Rated 3 out of 3.
