New Shake Shack location opens in RiNo. The Denver Post’s Dylan Owens states in Life and Culture (2018.03.22) “ushering Denver into what some would consider a new area of burger-hood.” Hmm. according to one shake representative they moved 200 burgers in the first hour. First hand experience is […]

Food associated to a holiday is an intriguing culinary thread.
The month of March, I have read or seen several “Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with Irish Soda Bread”. Celebrate with Soda Bread is a bit of a stretch for I don’t have an connection to soda bread- celebration and St. Patrick’s Day.
Fortunately one of the food network chefs did. Ina wrote in March’s 2018 food network magazine that “several years ago she took a trip to Dublin”. The quick bread recipe is from her trip and delicious with extra currants. The recipe is included in the basic cookery folder and the culinary thread tied.
mid day break – a good cup of coffee. More specifically a good cappuccino. the criteria for a good cappuccino is a warmed ceramic cup, double shot espresso, floating frothy milk – not to dry and the simple swirling finish. the traveling criteria is the same. Hospitality, on […]
Last night I picked up the Kroger new sample at the “first Friday” kiosk. It is the Luna Rica bar. Luna – thank you wikipedia – is the Latin name for the Moon. It may also refer to: Luna (goddess), the ancient Roman divine personification […]

Looking for new items – a visit to Marczyk Fine Foods for locally produced products – you can always find a culinary pearl.
Todays pearl is Merfs hot sauce. the Kiosk had 4 flavors to sample. Approaching the kiosk the my 3 restaurant factors (Architectural aesthetics, background mood noise, and the food on the plate) – an influence the product appeal prior to sampling. Architecturally Marczks has the kiosk well positioned and show case the product in their store. The mood is energetic AND set by the owners / condiment makers. the hot sauces is served with room temperature brie on a fresh baguette. The 3 factors resulted in a favorable impression – I am in.
Tastes included electric lime, jamberry sriracha and fools paradise. they had different degrees of spicy hotness. Jamberry is medium hot with full body berry. Initial inspiration is lingonberry sauce, venison medallions and Jamberry Sriracha. – so this is the condiment that came home.
Merfs Condiments transitioned from the market place into the chef’s pantry.
Lox, smoked salmon, gravlax are part of my salmon quest. Today is Einstein’s Lox and Bagel. My 3 factors rule still apply that ultimately affect perfect rating. Architectural aesthetics, background noise, and the food on the plate. Architectural aesthetic included way finding and ease of […]
If you are a true fan of fruit breads – then the marzipan stollen from Traders Joe’s is a must. Traditionally holiday breads have candied fruit. This yeast bread forgoes candied fruit. Trader Joe’s stollen is delightfully balanced with raisins and marzipan in the sponge. I was lucky to find one still on the shelf in January.

Blue Moon Brewery: My quest for a delicious Pulled Pork Sandwich has lead to the Blue Moon Brewery in The RiNo district in Denver Colorado. There are 3 outside factors that affect the dining experience and ultimately the perfect pork sandwich: Architectural aesthetics, background mood […]
