And this time, its not just whats on the plate -its about the study session and social experience that rates these dishes over the top. it is the opportunity to unwind, chat and break bread. this act of preparing food breaks down the barriers and creates community and comfort that will spreads mental nourishment over the campus long after study for tonight is done.

According to Omaha lore, the combination of Rye brad, corned beef, swiss cheese and sauerkraut had been dreamed up in 1925 to fed participants in a late night poker game at the Blackstone Hotel in downtown Omaha by a local grocer, Reuben Kulakofsky.
The Ruben Sandwich, a beloved staple in American delis is the subject of many culinary quests. the search for he perfect Reuben sandwich is a deply personal journey, often shaped by individual tastes and regional influences. whether you ahere to traditional recipes from Omaha or experiment with modern twists, the goal remains the same: Create a harmonious blend of flavors and textures tat deliver an unforgettable eating experience.
Quest took us to Sam’s No.10 in Denver. I have heard – When in Rome do as the Romans do. Taking the phrase – When in Denver and at Sam’s No.10 … and not on a Ruben culinary quest – order a Denver Omelet! One can not go wrong.
The Culinary Quest for Ruben continues.
Key Elements to achieving the perfect Ruben sandwich involves attention to several components.
Corned Beef: the foundation of the Reuben is the corned beef, which must be juicy and flavorful. Cooked on site and slice thin. A healthy portion does not hurt in the critique.
Swiss Cheese: the swiss must be good quality . good quality flavor has the right balance of sweetness and tang. It melts well and ad nutty flavor that complements the beef.
Sauerkraut: brings more tang. It should kiss the sandwich and not be the predominant feature. It need to be well drained and I like the sauerkraut grille bringing in a bit of char.
Russian Dressing: Creamy an tangy ties all the elements together. Traditional Russian dressing that I like keeps it simple with the 3 sisters in the dressing – ketchup, mayo and, horseradish.
Rye bread: simply understated is the Rye bread. Hearty, dense and grilled.
Assembly of the Ruben at Sam’s No.10 does require skill, but one does not have to be in construction management to build – nor should you need to deconstruct and enjoy. The rim of the plate should be clean presentation and the initial focus would be the swirl of the golden toasted Rye bread.
the search was Close. although not perfect – The flavors are carefully balance. It is a hearty portion of corned beef and generous layer of melted swiss. The Ruben at Sam’s No.10 gets rated four forks out of five for presentation on the plate, atmosphere in the café.
