Book Review “America Farm to Table” by Mario Batali and Jim Webster

Farmers Almanac came to life in America Farm to Table. Culinary threads are blurred between kitchens and in the fields . Local farmers share their recipes that the farmers show their passion of their product. The saying “Farm to Table” has become an over used cliché.  however elevating cooking as stated in American Farm to […]

Pizza Friday ~ Bonnano Brothers Pizzeria at Milk Market Food Hall

Pizza Friday ~ Bonnano Brothers Pizzeria at Milk Market Food Hall

12 of America’s Best Food Halls is the title of July’s 2018 Delta’s Sky Magazine. It’s review of food halls exemplifies  the essence of great food experience. The title states …”loose your self in the diversity of food vendors and flavors” in America’s 12 best food halls.

The best 12 list includes:  Ponce City Market in Atlanta, Grand Central Market in Los Angeles, Pike Place Market in Seattle, Chelsea Market in New York City, the Original Farmers Market in Los Angles, Oxbow Public Market in Napa Valley, Ferry Building in San Francisco, West Side Market in Cleveland, Union Market in Washington DC, Eastern Market in Detroit, Chicago French Market in Chicago and Smorgasburg in New York City.

The “Best” rating is ambiguous, however does inspire culinary exploration. Are all 12 Unique environments? Definitely.  Consistency, customer service all hard to rate from single author optics.

A diamond in Denver’s back yard the Milk Market Food Hall.

Milk Market

Today is Pizza Friday. we had a very good 1st experience at the Milk Market, today return and try Bonanno Pizzeria. Service is welcoming. The pizza menu includes all the favorites: Margherita, Carbonara, Wild Mushroom, Prosciutto & Arugula, Sausage and Peppers, Carne and Pepperoni. Included is a gluten free offering.

Simply stated – can Bonanno make  a good pepperoni pizza. The answer is yes.

The pies are 12 inch thin crust and this one is perfectly cooked. the pizza has good base sauce, perfect amount of mozzarella and peperoni in every slice. architectural aesthetics for food kiosk and feels a niche carved out of the hall for the vendor. Retro music in the back ground is pleasant white noise – and is not to loud to block out conversation. My 3 dining criteria include: architectural aesthetics, background noise, and the food on the plate.

Bonanno Pizzeria rates 3 of 3 on Pizza Friday.

Shake Shack @ Rino

Shake Shack @ Rino

Travel writers were in Denver the other week. a group of writers & bloggers together all at one time. Most of them have written of wondrous stories and places afar.

A wondrous transformation is taking place in River North Denver (The Rino District).  It is a diamond in our back yard. After a while, we stopped for lunch, after visiting the art galleries and painted alleys. We visited the now tried and true Shake Shack. The wait line to order is reasonable. When working around the menu we ordered: 1 flat-top dog, a chocolate shake, crinkle fries, and green chili burgers. They are fresh, delicious and worth the culinary journey to Rino.

My Granddad said to do one thing, and to do it well. That one thing for Shake Shack is burgers. The customer service hit our experience out of the park.

This time’s rating: 5/5

New Shake Shack location opens in RiNo. The Denver Post’s Dylan Owens states in Life and Culture (2018.03.22)  “ushering Denver into what some would consider a new area of burger-hood.” Hmm. according to one shake representative they moved 200 burgers in the first hour. First hand experience is […]
