Consistency

Consistency

Traveling is an adventure. Traveling and visiting restaurants I look for consistency. The types of American barbecue sauces styles are various from Texas (moppy) to Carolinas’ (vinegar based) to Kansas City (sweet). Cuts of meat and slow cooking methods define the sauces. Barbecue sauce at […]

Sous Vide

Sous Vide

Sous vide – or boil in the bag at a specific temperature – goes along with the my post of cooking hack. Fundamental cooking techniques are lost.
Sous vide is touted as hands free cooking.
Plastic chemicals released during sous vide conditions are a gray area. I know that a good bit of char ( caramelization ) brings forth flavors that hands off cooking lacks.

Mothers Day ~ Worthy Brunch

Mothers Day ~ Worthy Brunch

spectacular brunch – is not commonly in my vernacular. Being considered worthy of mothers day brunch , my Restaurant Rating Rule still applies. Restaurants are rated on service, back ground noise, food on the plate. Mothers day brunch at the Denver Athletic Club is spectacular.

Welcoming piano is in the back ground, the service is present, but not hovering.food on the plate is visually very pleasing. Most Importantly – it is all about Mum.

the layout included fresh squeezed juice station, mimosa station, Omelet station, French toast station, Carving station with ham and prime rib. Cold section included salads smoked salmon platter cheese and charcuterie. Hot side included chick biscuit pot pie, salmon, cheesy potatoes. absolutely delightful and always the buffet was well stocked..

Pot Pies from Trader Joes

Pot Pies from Trader Joes

Beets

Beets

Roasted beets, Pickled beets with salads. Earthy. Huge fan of beets.

Westin Hotels has beet juice as a super food rich in antioxidants for the morning jump start. Eating well magazine April 2019 has 2 cups of beet juice work out 25% longer during a short intensive. WOW!

beet napkin sketch

Coffee

Coffee

I received a sample of coffee to try. I like my coffee hot, non dairy, not sweet and strong. Mexican vanilla with 90 calories …hmm. Well I had placed it away for a bit and after a long day thought I would give it a […]
